London Fashion Week celebrated British style and creative flare with designers showing collections of bold, strong colours, rich detailing and elegant tailoring for Autumn/Winter 2015.
Geometric patterns were carried over from the summer collections and current swimwear trends you’ve been wearing on the beaches this year to feature in winter coats from Roksanda, Jonathan Saunders, J Moon.
Temperley London transferred their classic long, floaty summer silhouette, perfect for an Indian Ocean evening, over to their Autumn/Winter collection with strong patterns, oversized coats, high necklines and slender scarfs.
For Erdem it was all about strong tailoring and rich detailing with brocade featuring heavily on beautifully cut eveningwear.
Back to the future
Many British designers, like Thomas Tait and Mary Katrantzou and JW Anderson successfully combined the past and future with science-fiction fabrics reflecting historic patterning and tailoring.
Others such as Giles and Burberry found their inspiration in the past. A Bohemian-inspired collection from Burberry moved the summer fashion for flowing, floral fabrics, crochet bikinis and laidback island lifestyle into a winter landscape. Meanwhile Giles took inspiration from 19th Century gothic for his beautiful collection.
