Top Tips on Surviving the Festive Season

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Season’s greetings to you all! It’s that time of year again, and we’re so excited for December festivities at Constance Hotels & Resorts! We love the bustling month of the season, but we understand it can get too much at times. If you’re desperately seeking ways to survive the most wonderful (and busiest!) time of the year, then read on for our top tips for making it through to January with bliss and ease!

Have a Cocktail (or two)

It’s the run-up to Christmas and your schedule is looking very busy. Despite the busy time, we always recommend putting your feet up and grabbing a cocktail. Either make it yourself, or pop into a local bar/restaurant for a classic, Christmassy combination. Here at Constance Hotels & Resorts, we love creating fresh, vibrant flavours which work wonders, whatever the weather.

Our cocktail recommendation for December:

The Ultimate Garden Cocktail

  • 5cl rosemary-infused gin
  • 2cl Asian syrup
  • 2cl lemon juice
  • 1 pinch of black pepper
  • fresh mint (to preference)

Shake the ingredients over ice and pour into a jam glass. Garnish with a sprig of rosemary, mint or a slice of cucumber. Spice up your December with our ultimate garden cocktail!

Don’t Forget the Veg!

We love the indulgent food available upon the run-up to the festive season. Whether it’s roast dinners every Sunday, to cheese-boards and red wine – we know what it’s like to occasionally go overboard when treating yourself. We’re all for indulging, but it’s important to remember to stick to a reasonably healthy diet during the celebratory weeks ahead. In recent news, the average person consumers a staggering 7,000 calories on Christmas Day – despite the recommended 2,000-2,500. We recommend swapping certain foods with healthier options to avoid a calorie overload! Pile roasted vegetables this December, with veg such as: carrots, Brussel sprouts, courgettes and parsnips. These are all packed with vitamin C and K, and will accompany any Christmas meat perfectly.

Invest in Self-Care

The holiday season is about celebrating those around you, “you” being an important factor also! We all deserve a little me-time and some time off to actually appreciate the holidays. From a candlelit night-in with meditation and endless hot chocolates, to a luxurious spa treatment – it’s important to take time to de-stress. Take time to relax from the comfort of your own home with a luxurious scented bath, we recommend infusing the water with lavender essence; for a beautiful, subtle scent which will help you drift off to sleep at night.

Constance Hotels & Resorts encourages self-care techniques like a relaxing bath.

Bake a Cake

The holiday season is all about celebrating and indulging on food, whether home-cooked or in a restaurant. Avoid the hassle this December and try a bit of baking, it can be very therapeutic, rewarding – and very tasty.
