This summer, Matt returned to Constance Belle Mare Plage with his family to donate the money to Joie de Vivre, a special educational needs centre on the island.

In his own words, here’s Matt’s inspiring story.

I have been coming to Mauritius on holiday for the last 15 years with my family. We always stay at Belle Mare Plage.

Since I was 5 years old I have wanted to play in the Pro Am at the Mauritius Golf Open and in December 2011 my dream came true.

When I knew I was coming to the MGO, I decided to try to raise some money for charity – the Berkshire Autistic Society in the UK, and the Centre Joie de Vivre in Mauritius because my Mum was part of the Pink Ladies golf team that raised money for the centre 8 years ago.

Raising sponsorship

I got sponsorship from friends and family, and Constance Hotels kindly donated a 5 night stay at Constance Belle Mare Plage at auction.

I raised a good amount of money and donated 2,600 Euros to the centre in Mauritius while on holiday this summer.

I currently attend Cranleigh School in Surrey, UK and am studying for my A levels. I hope to go to Birmingham University to follow my passion for golf, and do an Applied Golf Management degree.

When I leave school next year, I want to take a gap year and hope to come back to Mauritius with a friend to do some voluntary work for Centre Joie de Vivre.
