Wind fills your sail, the board beneath your feet begins to move and you feel the thrill of being inextricably connected to air and sea.
Windsurfing is without doubt an exhilarating sport, the rush of the board across the water, the pull of the wind in your sail but it can also be a great way to relax, to take yourself away from the stresses of everyday life.
There are no mobile phones on a windsurf, no GPS, no email, there is only you and the ocean, and a sail to harness the power of the wind.
Set yourself a challenge
Whether you are a beginner or an experienced windsurfer there’s always room to improve, so set yourself a goal on your next holiday of taking a lesson or two or just getting out and challenging yourself a little more.
Get the family involved
Learning a new skill together as a family can be a great way to reconnect. Get the kids out on the ocean and learning suddenly becomes fun (kids actually find it funny when they repeatedly fall off!). And nothing will beat the sense of achievement they’ll feel when it suddenly clicks and they windsurf for the first time.
Sometimes relaxation comes in strange guises and when you finally crawl back up the beach exhausted after an afternoon on the water, you’ll realise you probably haven’t felt so relaxed for years.
