Golf pioneers

Back in the early 90s we had a dream of creating a golf course so well planned and designed that it could hold its own on the world stage against some of the leading courses around the globe.

To fulfil this dream we invited international golf course designer Hugh Baiocchi to Mauritius to create something spectacular. The result was Legend, a challenging, dramatic 18-hole PGA-approved golf course with narrow fairways and tight twists and turns to be shared by both Constance Belle Mare Plage and Constance Le Prince Maurice.

The birth of tournament golf in Mauritius

In 1994 we launched Mauritius’ very first PGA-approved golf tournament, the Mauritius Golf Open. Of course it started off small, with just 40 competitors from around the world battling it out in the first round, but over the years its size and reputation grew attracting world-class players like Ian Poulter, Graeme McDowell and Jamie Donaldson.

By 2002 golf had become so important to us that we opened The Links, our second 18-hole championship golf course designed by Rodney Wright and Peter Allis.

MCB Tour Championship

Just a few years later in 2009 the Mauritius Golf Open had become such an event on the annual golf calendar that the European Senior Tour selected Constance Belle Mare Plage to host its season finale. The event was reborn as the MCB Tour Championship and attracted a new raft of golfing legends to our greens and fairways.

Today, the event which started with the dream of bringing international golf to Mauritius is an important fixture on the world golf calendar, broadcast to more than 230 million viewers worldwide.

Looking to the future

Thanks to an agreement this year between the European Senior Tour, the event sponsors Mauritius Commercial Bank and ourselves, the MCB Championship will remain at Constance Belle Mare Plage at least until 2017.

Follow all the excitement of the conclusion of this year’s MCB Tour Championship on our website, the European Senior Tour website or catch updates broadcast on Sky, Sport+, Eurosport Asia and Supersport.

I note the question is right/left arm .For a right-hander its got to be right arm .why??The left arm don’t relaly bend as much as the right arm throughout the swing. At the impact area1) Your left elbow is already straight so there’s little power you can add to it2) Your right elbow is still bent and must be straighten to hit the ball. .
