Nurturing Nature at Constance Hotels & Resorts

Reading Time: 3 minutes

At Constance Hotels and Resorts, we cherish and admire the nature around us. From sea shells to sea turtles. We are delighted to share land some of nature’s most beautiful creatures! 😄 It’s important to us that we continue to preserve our planet by treating it with respect ranging from our strict policies on recycling or enforced rules on caring for the animals surrounding our properties.

Turtle Preservation

One of the many things we do to protect mother nature is by activating a Tortoise reserve at Constance Ephelia.

They are an extension of our team and we do all we can to make sure they are comfortable and are kept safe on the island. We like to treat our turtles like hotel guests! 🤣

At our Tortoise pen, we look after 2 male and 5 females Aldabra tortoises. They enjoy an area of 220m2 with a water pond of 30m2.  Every day they are fed around 20kg of nutritious food which are vegetable cuttings from our kitchen and fresh water.

Our passion is also shared with our hotel guests, whereby they are invited to interact with the tortoises.  Interaction is always supervised by our staff to ensure that the tortoises are not too distracted.

2 years ago, we enlarged the area and improved their habitat which led to a breeding success. Tortoise breeding is the best indicator for a close to nature habitat.

Apart from protecting the turtle in Constance Ephelia, we also reduce, reuse and recycle!

We know that to be a truly sustainable resort, it starts with the way our hotels operate day-to-day. At all our hotels, we have implemented the non-plastic straw movement. Every drink you order will be served in a paper straw, so you can enjoy a drink guilt free and help us protect the world around us!

We also encourage all our guests to limit their laundry requests to preserve energy. Guests at Constance Halaveli in the Maldives are invited to use Kahambu, a small turtle toy, to tell us if bed linen requires changing.

Coral Conservation

One of the main attractions to our hotels is the beautiful Coral reef that lays beneath the surface.

The coral reefs surrounding the Maldives are essential for both the islands’ natural beauty and the marine ecosystem’s survival.

At Constance Moofushi, we hire marine biologists to create coral frames, designed to encourage coral growth.

Helping Mother nature and being True by Nature is very close to our hearts, we are always striving towards sustainability!
