A Luxury Travel Blog describes Tsarabanjina as an ‘idyllic castaway island’

Craig Burkinshaw recently discovered the charms of Tsarabanjina, writing on A Luxury Travel Blog this week that this Constance gem is a ‘particular favourite’.

In a piece in which Craig describes the resort as one of the few offering luxury accommodation and service in the beautiful setting of Madagascar, he goes on to celebrate the tiny private island’s stunning natural setting and exceptional diving and snorkeling opportunities.

Founder of Audley Travel, Craig praises the resort’s laidback charm:

‘A charming feature is that the island has its own time zone, Tsarabanjina time. An hour different to mainland Madagascar, this is done to make the most of the daylight and only adds to the remote feeling of the island and resort.’

Craig goes on to extol the virtues of the fresh, sumptuous food and indulgent spa treatments on offer. Describing the accommodation Craig admires the use of natural woods and Malagasy crafts to create a comfortable environment with ‘plenty of luxurious touches’.

Craig sums up, ‘Overall Constance Tsarabanjina has the perfect combination of Robinson Crusoe escapism and a healthy dose of luxury.’

Guide to big game fishing in Madagascar

Feel the thrill of a tug from a big game fish at the end of your line as you float above waters so clear you can make eye contact with your catch.

Constance Tsarabanjina, Madagascar

April to June is the perfect time for fishing the idyllic, teaming waters around Constance Tsarabanjina in Madagascar. Here are our top 5 reasons for game fishing in the area.

1. The experience of a lifetime
Pit yourself against the great giants of the sea as you cast a line into waters teeming with exotic sea-life. Feel the sun on your face as you explore northern Madagascar’s deserted bays, headlands, rocky outcrops and remote islands. The beauty of the location combined with the high density of big game fish means fishing here is like nowhere else on earth.

2. Perfect conditions
The ideal climate and the calm, clear waters off Madagascar’s northwest coast with few shore breaks ensure visibility is extremely high. It makes it the perfect place for first timers and experienced fishermen alike.

3. High density waters
Game fishing in the area is still a fairly new activity so the density of fish including giant trevally, yellowfin and dogtooth tuna, kingfish, barracouda, wahoos, sailfish and Marlins is high. From April through to July over 100 sailfish a day, many more than 100lbs, have been seen near the surface.

An idyllic retreat, Tsarabanjina is a secluded, private island far off the tourist trail. No dress-code, no formalities, just laidback luxury and friendly Malagasy charm.

Elegant thatched beachside villas
Part of the lure of this resort is its size. There are just 25 beach villas, spread across two of the island’s beautiful white sand beaches, making it an intimate and secluded hideaway.

Each boutique-style villa is nestled close to the shore. Made from rosewood and thatch, we’ve added air-conditioning and large private terraces – ideal for late-night, jaw-dropping stargazing or simply lying back and watching the sun set over the ocean.

Escape the pressure of modern life
This is one of those rare corners of the world where you can truly let the pressures of daily life slip away. Take a mental break and enjoy a digital detox – mobile phone and wifi connections are limited to the main building only.

To make the castaway experience even more complete, we offer the all-inclusive Cristal package at Tsarabanjina. This means that once you arrive, you don’t have to worry about paying for anything. It’s all included. And when we say all-included, we really mean it.

This is a place where the food tastes of sunshine – the menu changes daily depending on what the Mitsio fishermen catch, and the fruits and vegetables available at Nosy Be market on the mainland.

Each afternoon we serve tea in the main restaurant and cocktails at sunset. Or you can simply grab a perfectly chilled bottle of wine from your mini bar, stroll a few paces to the beach and watch the sun set into the ocean.
