The project, which we are running in partnership with Nature Seychelles, is the first ever large-scale active reef restoration using ‘coral gardening’ in the region.

This important pilot scheme involves collecting small pieces of healthy coral and raising them in underwater nurseries until they are large enough to replant in an areas effected by coral bleaching.

The coral being used at Petite Anse Kerlan has been grown for several years in a ‘coral farm’ in the waters beyond Cousin Island.

Divers from France and Australia are planting the healthy coral just a few metres away from the shore and we hope that in a few weeks it will be growing into a healthy, beautiful coral garden for our guests to enjoy.

This exciting, rewarding project has been made possible thanks to funding from the Government of Seychelles, United Nations Development Program and Global Environmental Fund through their Small Grants for Environmental NGO-Tourism Operator Partnership Program, to which we are very grateful.
