Luxury jewellery designer Claire Deve-Rakoff was so inspired by the colours of Seychelles during her stay at Constance Ephélia she included them in her collection.
In a piece about travel-inspired jewellery for Condé Nast Traveller, Deve-Rakoff explains her inspiration for the white and yellow gold, diamond and yellow and blue sapphire earrings which make up part of her Lumières d’Eau collection for Chaumet.
She describes walking along the beach at Ephélia with her husband, ‘the next minute a storm hit the cove and we took shelter under some coconut trees. An hour later the storm passed, the sun came out, the sea calmed down and left beautiful little wavelets in the sand. At that moment the light hit the water and there was an explosion of blues and yellows.’
Deve-Rakoff’s insider tip for those visiting Ephélia is to ask a local fisherman to take you to Thérèse or Conception island for a day trip.
