Italian Franco Tosi landed an outstanding double in the Air Mauritius Amateur Trophy at the Links course last week.

The scratch golfer comfortably maintained his advantage in the Gross (0-9 handicap) category, scoring the day’s best 37 points in the third round.

Five strokes back came runner-up Ludovic Bax, of Mauritius, with another Italian, Niccolo De Lucis and England’s Marcus
Ferguson Jones joint third on 103 points.

Tosi’s 37 points haul also earned him top spot in the Net event, in which he overhauled nine-handicap Olivier Lagesse, from Mauritius, by two points after Lagesse could manage only 34 points.

England’s Steve Hurst came out on top in the Gross 10-18 handicap category.

The 10-handicapper dropped only five strokes to sign for 31 points, six more than Sydney Lasri, of Mauritius, to gain the verdict on countback after both had a total of 69 points.

Frenchman Jacob Chekib (h15) took the Net 10-18 handicap section title after his 34 points saw him home by two points over
Mauritian Mark Cridland (h13),

Italy’s Giuliana Colavito was never under threat in the Ladies’ Gross competition and extended her winning margin to 15 points
over Ginger Delacretaz, of Mauritius.

A final round 34 in the Net category was just enough to secure the title for Priscille Li Yuen Fong (h18), but only on
countback from fellow Mauritian Prabha Saddul (h9) after both finished on 100 points.
