How To Ease Yourself Into Yoga

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Yoga is the art of connecting your mind and body. It’s an opportunity to feel completely calm and at ease.

Block out all of the distractions and focus on the present moment.

Carry on reading to discover how you can ease yourself into yoga…

Start With The Breath

An important place to start is with the breath.

Close your eyes and breath deeply in for 2-4 seconds, hold for 2-4 seconds and then exhale and count for 4-6 seconds

Focus on the way your chest rises and falls with your breath and immediately you will start to feel at peace, relaxed and rejuvenated.

Jet off to Constance Prince Maurice and listen to the calming sound of the Indian ocean with every breath…

Slow Movements

As you ease into yoga, don’t rush any movements. Take everything slow and engage your muscles.

Slower movements are much more effective and will help you to perfect every yoga position.

Yoga Stretches Shouldn’t Hurt

Stretches shouldn’t feel painful when you do them. Whilst you may feel slight discomfort, stretches should never hurt.

Listen to your body and don’t overstretch otherwise you run the risk of pulling a muscle.

There are often levels of stretches, ones that are perfect for beginners and ones which are slightly more challenging.

Ease yourself in carefully and start with the simpler stretch, then as your body becomes used to it attempt a slightly harder stretch.

Constance Belle Mare Plage in Mauritius bodes as the perfect beach location for yoga. Feel the sand beneath your feet as you ease into your stretches.

Engage Your Core During Yoga Positions

A vital tip when easing yourself into the art of yoga is to always engage your core. Your core holds the vital muscles to control movements and regain strength.

With every stretch or yoga position you to, remind yourself to check that your core is engaged.

A tip is to position your hand on your stomach to check that your muscles are actively being used.
