The high-end paradise resort of Constance Le Prince Maurice created the stunning backdrop for the wedding of David and Carina Billam.

David, an officer with the British Royal Navy, and his wife Carina were our second guests to check-in following the refurbishment at the resort.
When David and Carina started researching resorts for their forthcoming marriage they knew they wanted somewhere that exuded a discreet elegance and luxury.
What made us choose Le Prince Maurice
‘We chose Le Prince Maurice due to its understated luxury. From trawling the internet it appeared to be a discreet, luxurious and romantic location. The wedding package provided everything we needed as well as allowing for extras that we both wanted at a reasonable price.
In addition recommendations from travel agents were nothing but outstanding, it was sold to us as one of the top hotels in Mauritius – which it quite obviously is.’
On arriving at the resort the couple were struck by the warm welcome they received. ‘The lobby was incredibly impressive and we were instantly greeted by both the General Manager and the General Resort Manager, both of whom were so welcoming it gave us the impression that we were being welcomed by a long lost family.’
The staff made all the difference
The couple were delighted with the beauty of the resort but reserve their strongest praise for the staff who made their stay so enjoyable.
‘The hotel was truly reflected by the photos we viewed online, although in reality it’s far more beautiful. The location and scenery are amazing and certainly put a smile on your face each day but what keeps that smile there is everyone who works here. It feels like people are kind from the bottom of their hearts and it doesn’t make you feel that people are being wonderful purely because they are paid to be.’
Romance on the beach
The Billams were offered the opportunity to upgrade to a villa at Constance Belle Mare Plage, ‘Carina and I said no, purely for the fact that we would have missed the people at Le Prince Maurice.’
Quality in every sense
When the couple were at home dreaming about their wedding and honeymoon they imagined the luxury of ‘being able to enjoy each other’s company with no consideration for home and the stresses that work brings.’ And that is exactly what they found at Le Prince Maurice.
‘Every morning we woke up to the most incredible breakfast buffet. If the weather was promising we’d head to the beach and spend the hours tanning up and relaxing in the sun. In the evening we’d enjoy the incredible selection of food on offer – our personal favourite is the Asian tapas cooked by Li Junwei. On other days we visited the market in Flacq, the capital Port Louis and took a day trip to Ile Aux Cerfs.’
What they hoped for from their idyllic wedding location was a world of elegant luxury, ‘quality in every sense,’ which, as they describe, ‘is exactly what is delivered at Constance Le Prince Maurice.’
