What was your first thought when you heard of the pandemic?

Like many of the global population, our Constance family were truly saddened by the news. Many travellers and team members alike, had plans that were suddenly put on hold.
Loic de Robillard, the General Manager at Constance Tsarabanjina, Madagasacar thoughts went straight to the safety of our guests:

My first thought was: we have to make sure that all our in-house guests get home in the quickest and safest way possible”.

This sentiment was echoed by Gert Puchtler, from Constance Belle Mare Plage in Mauritius too:

We prepared different scenarios and the protocols were put in place immediately… the key element was communication towards our guests to prevent anxiety or panic.”

What are some of the work you and your team did to make your hotel safe?

The safety and comfort of our guests are our priority.

We are aware that some guests may feel a little anxious about traveling again. Which is normal. However, we want to say that our team sprang into action to ensure guests and locals alike are all made to feel safe and comfortable. Bruno Le Gac, the General Manager at Constance Lemuria, shares some of the work his team executed during the outbreak.

Keeping our calm and focus, we created a committee, defined responsibilities and implemented quick and efficient measures such as conversion of some hotel rooms into quarantine rooms, reshuffling some of the team’s accommodation next to the hotel to be used as isolation rooms, implementation of temperature checks and above all ensuring our stock level of basic products was sufficient. Especially a stock of masks, gloves, sanitizers etc…

Stephane  Duchenne, the General Manager at Constance Ephelia implemented similar measures:

“With the help of our Health and Safety Department, our in house Doctor and our corporate office, we established quickly our protocol for both our guests in house and our employees. A few examples included daily temperature checks for all employees and guests, hand sanitization at all public areas of the resort, strict hygiene control measures at our food preparation areas and employee restaurant, temperature checks at the main gate for all suppliers and trade partners coming inside the resort”

What do you have to say about this situation?

“I don’t think anyone could have anticipated the gravity of this crisis, which is having disastrous multilevel effects in pretty much every part of the World.”

says Bruno Le Gac.

How did your team cope during this period?

A positive mindset and energy are both key factors Bruno explains,

“I believe in the power of positive thinking, so I would also like to say that I am glad the situation is Seychelles has been well managed by the authorities, that we had only 11 cases in the country, no death related to Covid-19 and not a single case on our beautiful island of Praslin”.

Constance Halaveli‘s Tangi Le Grand mirrors this attitude too:

While it is hard to know when this COVID-19 crisis will end, we must remain positive and confident as we probably never had a more challenging time than this one.”

He continues outlining how it is important to “renew ourselves and focus on some new priorities. Expectations from our guests and our own team members have probably changed.”

What do you want your guests to know about your hotel?

Like all the other General Managers, Tangi explained to us that:

“Today, more than ever, the health and safety of our guests and Halaveli team members is our utmost priority…our guests have always been at the center of everything we do, and this remains true”.

We have also been truly inspired by many of our guest’s resilient reaction and positive attitude towards the outbreak.

Constance Moofushi‘s General Manager Henri Arnulphy said that they kept in touch with guests by sharing pictrues the beloved atoll and few casual conversation.

They felt happy to know the team is safe and taking care of Constance Moofushi. The feedback was extremely positive and they are all extremely excited to come back or to come for the first time.”

All hotels would like to assure guests that we have taken all appropriate measures to ensure your safety is our top priority and you can relax and enjoy your holiday as much as possible. Bruno Le Gac explains “We will be ready to welcome back our guests with a refreshed property, and efficient sanitary measures in place for everyone to enjoy a safe vacation and unwind from these extraordinarily difficult and stressful times.

Believe me, to watch a sunset at Constance Lemuria is the best medicine possible to forget about your problems…”

Christophe Plantier, General Manager at Constance Prince Maurice at his turn said he cannot wait to welcome his guests back to the family in the safest way possible.
