Every year, these majestic creatures leave the cold waters of the Antarctic seeking out the warmer waters closer to the Equator. Many humpback whales swim to the channel between Ile Sainte-Marie off the East coast of Madagascar to breed.

It’s estimated there are only 10,000-15,000 humpback whales in the world. An endangered species, they have a life expectancy of 45-50 years.
