Her ever-increasingly popular fitness classes have earned Isabelle a loyal following among Constance guests. Many are returning from their holiday saying they’ve never felt better.

Here are Isabelle’s top tips for 2013:

1. Lie down on your back, hands under your head. Inhale 8 seconds with the nose, expanding your ribs and blowing out your stomach. Hold your breath for 5 seconds then exhale naturally. Do this 3 times to relax all the body and the brain.

2. Ask your self ‘What do I actually wish to change or improve on my body?’ Visualize mentally your ideal appearence and the way of living you would like for your wellness.

3. Stretch your arms, stretch your legs, turn on your right side then stand up.

4. Now that you know what you want for your well-being, put on your running shoes or your swimming costume and go out for one hour. Just go out and walk or swim to detox your body and your brain.

5. When you come back home, you’ll feel real satisfaction because you have taken care of yourself. That is the best tip I can give to you: think of yourself first so you have the best energy to give to others.

6. Stretch with fluent movement to allow your joints to relax. You can easily find different postures

7. I advise you to move your body 3 times per week for 1 hour each time. Choose the activity you prefer: aquagym, dance, running, walking, swimming… Stretch every day for 10 minutes, this is good for your joints and your muscles.

Time to get active

Constance hotels offer space to escape to where you can reduce your stress levels, embrace a healthier lifestyle and enjoy some grown up play time.

We take an holistic approach to fitness – from the fresh goodness of food grown locally and prepared healthily, to the chance to exercise in a completely different type of environment.

If you’re struggling to make it down the road to the gym, here’s an idea of what you can expect to find at our 7 resorts in the Indian Ocean.

Join us at Le Prince Maurice for Aquagym or the more strenuous Fit Paddle in our infinity pool.

The fully equipped gyms at our spas feature some of the latest fitness technology such as the Kinesis Conditioning equipment at Ephélia and Halaveli which focuses on balance, flexibility and stability.

Bespoke fitness programs

Our personal training staff, including French fitness guru Isabelle Lamant at Le Prince Maurice, are on hand to create bespoke programs to help you reach your targets.

Alternatively,  have a go at one of our organised classes from Sculpt Zumba to a Beach Workout and yoga. Many of our resorts also offer tennis courts, and at Ephélia you’ll find a natural climbing wall and squash courts.

Adrenalin sports

  • Windsurfing
  • Wakeboarding
  • Kayaking
  • Sailing
  • Pedalos
Golf at Constance

And if golf is your game, then walking the tiered greens of Lémuria’s 18-hole golf course will give you a great work out. Or play a round on each of the two championship golf courses at Le Prince Maurice and Belle Mare Plage.

The magazine describes the resort’s vibe as, ‘Quiet and classy, but very understated, friendly and ultra relaxed – a beautiful setting where sophistication gets together with Mother Nature to create a harmonious holiday experience.’

The highlight of journalist Michael Melis’ visit was, he says, ‘Yoga every morning with the lovely Isabelle and the food… This place is gastro heaven!’

We agree.

Inspired by her love of graceful movement, Isabelle’s classes are based around her philosophy of balance integrated into fitness, dance and yoga. Isabelle has a background in gymnastics and classical dance, which she has since combined with intensive yoga and pilates training.

‘After seven wonderful years of personal training in Paris and Versailles I’m excited to come to Mauritius and work with the Constance Group,’ she says. ‘My sessions will allow guests to tone up while they are dancing, practice the Dynamic (Vinyasa) Yoga as well as learning how to relax tense muscles and weak joints.

Each session will also show how guests can integrate practical exercises into their daily life so that they will not forget so soon their lovely gymnastic sessions when they return home. No matter what their physical abilities or experience may be, my sessions work for anyone.’

Exercising to a healthier more balanced lifestyle

Based around ‘control and fitness’ and ‘sculpt and balance’, Isabelle’s aim is to help her clients exercise their way to a more healthy, balanced lifestyle. She believes her role as a teacher is to empower each participant to define and reach their own personal goals both physical and psychological.
