January is a time to rethink fitness and our approach to health and well being.

Diving at Constance Hotels & Resorts

Time to get active

Constance hotels offer space to escape to where you can reduce your stress levels, embrace a healthier lifestyle and enjoy some grown up play time.

We take an holistic approach to fitness – from the fresh goodness of food grown locally and prepared healthily, to the chance to exercise in a completely different type of environment.

If you’re struggling to make it down the road to the gym, here’s an idea of what you can expect to find at our 7 resorts in the Indian Ocean.

Join us at Le Prince Maurice for Aquagym or the more strenuous Fit Paddle in our infinity pool.

The fully equipped gyms at our spas feature some of the latest fitness technology such as the Kinesis Conditioning equipment at Ephélia and Halaveli which focuses on balance, flexibility and stability.

Bespoke fitness programs

Our personal training staff, including French fitness guru Isabelle Lamant at Le Prince Maurice, are on hand to create bespoke programs to help you reach your targets.

Alternatively,  have a go at one of our organised classes from Sculpt Zumba to a Beach Workout and yoga. Many of our resorts also offer tennis courts, and at Ephélia you’ll find a natural climbing wall and squash courts.

Adrenalin sports

If your idea of paradise doesn’t include the gym, try these adrenalin-filled sports available at most resorts:

  • Scuba diving
  • Water-skiing
  • Windsurfing
  • Wakeboarding
  • Kayaking
  • Sailing
  • Pedalos
Golf at Constance

And if golf is your game, then walking the tiered greens of Lémuria’s 18-hole golf course will give you a great work out. Or play a round on each of the two championship golf courses at Le Prince Maurice and Belle Mare Plage.

‘Sparkling with a thoroughly-deserved 6* reputation, the Constance Halaveli Resort is tucked away in its own private hideaway, perfect for a romantic getaway or a relaxing family holiday…

…Casual elegance is what Constance Moofushi Resort is all about. Deliberately veering away from what’s fashionable in favour of a more timeless, natural luxury, the resulting atmosphere here is peaceful and relaxed: wander around shoeless between your villa and the stunning beach and surroundings, or relax on your private hammock.’

Discover fruits and spices of the Seychelles

One of the most pleasurable ways to immerse yourself in island culture is by sampling delicious local cuisine, flavoured by locally grown fruits, vegetables and spices.

Fresh produce, Constance Ephelia, Seychelles

Fresh produce at Ephelia

At our two Seychelles resorts, Constance Lemuria and Constance Ephelia, you’ll discover the fusion inherent in Creole cooking where traditions of many nations blend to create the distinctive dishes on offer. Influences include African, European, Chinese and Indian cuisines.

Fruits such as mango, passion fruit, banana and pineapple are combined with local fish to make light refreshing dishes while spices such as lemongrass (‘citronel’), chilli (‘pima’), and onions (la ke onyon) give the food its heat.

Fruit and spice discovery at Ephelia

Our team at Constance Ephelia are passionate about the luscious local fruits and exotic Seychellois spices served in the resort’s restaurants.

Every Saturday guests can enjoy a special fruit and spice discovery evening, where you can learn more about the island’s delicacies.

Antinori Estates wine dinner at Constance Moofushi

At Constance Moofushi we’ve organised a rare treat for gourmet travellers next month, when our Head Sommelier Romain Sauzier and Chef Ahmed Boukraa team up with premium Italian wine producer Antinori to create a one-off wine pairing dinner.

Antinori director Stefano Leone has worked with our team to create a menu which perfectly blends the exclusive Italian wines with the dining experience offered at Moofushi.

What’s on the menu

Leone will be at the event, where dishes will be paired with the perfect wine to complement both. In some cases the wine will be used in the preparation of the dish such as the delicious Franciacorta Montenisa Brut and rose petal sorbet.

Other dishes include:

  • a duo of fresh and smoked salmon tartar on an avocado bed, accompanied by an Umbria, Castello della Salla San Giovanni, 2011
  • glazed duck liver with a white grape verjus, accompanied by a Moscato d’Asti, Prunotto, 2010.

The event will be held at the Blue Lounge on Sunday 9 December at Constance Moofushi.

Isabelle Lamant

Isabelle Lamant

Inspired by her love of graceful movement, Isabelle’s classes are based around her philosophy of balance integrated into fitness, dance and yoga. Isabelle has a background in gymnastics and classical dance, which she has since combined with intensive yoga and pilates training.

‘After seven wonderful years of personal training in Paris and Versailles I’m excited to come to Mauritius and work with the Constance Group,’ she says. ‘My sessions will allow guests to tone up while they are dancing, practice the Dynamic (Vinyasa) Yoga as well as learning how to relax tense muscles and weak joints.

Each session will also show how guests can integrate practical exercises into their daily life so that they will not forget so soon their lovely gymnastic sessions when they return home. No matter what their physical abilities or experience may be, my sessions work for anyone.’

Exercising to a healthier more balanced lifestyle

Based around ‘control and fitness’ and ‘sculpt and balance’, Isabelle’s aim is to help her clients exercise their way to a more healthy, balanced lifestyle. She believes her role as a teacher is to empower each participant to define and reach their own personal goals both physical and psychological.
