To celebrate the sumptuous refurbishment of the Spa de Constance at Le Prince Maurice, world-renowned fitness guru Isabelle Lamant will be joining our team in October and introducing guests to her unique blend of dance, yoga and gymnastics.

Isabelle Lamant

Isabelle Lamant

Inspired by her love of graceful movement, Isabelle’s classes are based around her philosophy of balance integrated into fitness, dance and yoga. Isabelle has a background in gymnastics and classical dance, which she has since combined with intensive yoga and pilates training.

‘After seven wonderful years of personal training in Paris and Versailles I’m excited to come to Mauritius and work with the Constance Group,’ she says. ‘My sessions will allow guests to tone up while they are dancing, practice the Dynamic (Vinyasa) Yoga as well as learning how to relax tense muscles and weak joints.

Each session will also show how guests can integrate practical exercises into their daily life so that they will not forget so soon their lovely gymnastic sessions when they return home. No matter what their physical abilities or experience may be, my sessions work for anyone.’

Exercising to a healthier more balanced lifestyle

Based around ‘control and fitness’ and ‘sculpt and balance’, Isabelle’s aim is to help her clients exercise their way to a more healthy, balanced lifestyle. She believes her role as a teacher is to empower each participant to define and reach their own personal goals both physical and psychological.

Asian Tapas at Constance Le Prince Maurice

Effortless luxury and a sumptuous dining experience are two of the reasons guests return to Constance Le Prince Maurice time and time again.

Chef Li Junwei at Constance Le Prince Maurice

At Constance, we’re committed to finding the best chefs who can offer our guests the latest culinary styles. At the newly refurbished Le Prince Maurice, we’ve created a new Asian Tapas Corner at the Laguna Bar, headed up by Chef Li Junwei.

Building on the worldwide trend for sushi and Asian cuisine Chef Li Junwei has fused the two ideas to create a fresh and inspiring menu.

‘This is a unique concept,’ Junwei explains, ‘where we serve sushi, noodles, dim sum, Asian tapas and desserts all prepared in front of the guests. As a chef this is very exciting for me as it means I get to talk with the diners, introducing them to Asian culinary traditions and culture.’

Junwei has been a chef for 10 years working across the globe including in Oman, Abu Dhabi and Zanzibar all of which has inspired him in his understanding different cuisines and cultures.

It is this mixing of cuisines which has inspired the menu at the Asian Tapas Corner.

One such dish is the Five Spice Salmon, cooked according to the Chinese smoking tradition but with added Thai spices and a Japanese wakame salad, creating a new, modern flavour.

The laid back vibe of the Laguna Bar, with its deep comfortable chairs and views across the infinity pool to the beach beyond, is the perfect backdrop for tapas dining.

Enjoy by day together with a deliciously healthy fresh juice, or relax into the evening trying out unusual combinations of tapas and drinks. As Junwei explains, ‘Some of our tapas are very light and go well with a strong flavoured drink like a whisky or brandy. Other dishes have a stronger, heavier flavour so I recommend you accompany them with a sweet cocktail like a Mojito or gin and tonic.’

With its romantic setting and this fresh exciting menu created by the culinary passion of Chef Li Junwei, the Asian Tapas Corner is a rare treat for any visitor to Le Prince Maurice.

Here are our top 8 reasons to go to Mauritius right now.

1. Natural beauty

Palm fringed white-sand beaches, turquoise seas and vibrant coral reefs make for a tropical island paradise. Add to this mountain peaks, lush green river gorges and waterfalls, and it’s not hard to see why Mauritius stands out as a top island destination.

2. Beautiful climate

The island’s tropical climate makes Mauritius an all-year round option if you’re looking for warmth and sunshine.

From December to April, it’s hotter and more humid, while from May to November it’s cooler and drier. The best time of year for diving is November to March.

3. Indian Ocean

What better playground for water sports enthusiasts than the Indian Ocean. Warm seas, colourful reefs, and an abundance of sea creatures make this a great place for diving and snorkelling. Children aged 8 and up can learn to dive with our expert team.

At Constance we also offer wind-surfing, kayaking, water-skiing, sailing and more.

4. Family holidays

From the sheltered shoreline and stunning natural beaches to our children’s menus, spacious accommodation, new family suites at Le Prince Maurice and a huge choice of activities, Constance hotels on Mauritius are popular with families.

We offer free kids’ clubs at Belle Mare Plage and Le Prince Maurice, as well as a bookable baby sitting service.

6. Culture and heritage

The island enjoys a multi-cultural heritage, and it shines through in the eclectic mix of food, festivals, dance, celebrations and temples you’ll find here.

7. Horse racing

Mauritius is home to the oldest race course in the southern hemisphere – The Mauritius Turf Club. Situated at Champ de Mars, Port Louis, it was first established in 1812.

Popular today with locals and tourists, entry is free and attracts crowds of up to 30,000 every Saturday.
