3 tips to building a new health and fitness regime

January is the perfect time to get back in control of your health and fitness after the blow out of the festive season.

Health and fitness - Yoga on the beach

Health and fitness – Yoga on the beach

Kick-starting that change and then maintaining motivation are two major barriers to success.

Consider taking a break from it all and give your energy levels a boost with a blast of winter sun at one of our 7 hotels and resorts in the Indian Ocean.

With fresh, healthy food prepared daily, fully equipped fitness suites, personal trainers, sumptuous spas and adrenalin-pumping water sports a Constance holiday can provide the ideal environment to take a new approach to your wellbeing.

Guidance from a personal trainer

Talk to one of our personal trainers about your health and fitness needs and goals. They can then design a program specifically for you and will be on hand throughout your stay to guide you through it.

You decide whether you want a program based in our high tech fitness suites, in the privacy of your villa or out in the open air with a beach workout, tennis or swimming.

Team spirit

Wellbeing can be about more than fitness – it can be about making connections with others and having fun too. Our fitness classes offer the opportunity to make friends and have fun while you get fit.

The Sunday Times Travel Magazine recommends Constance Hotels & Resorts

The Sunday Times Travel magazine recommends Constance Hotels and Resorts in Mauritius, Maldives and the Seychelles.

The turtles of Constance Lémuria, Seychelles

Their Total Guide to the Indian Ocean, February edition, looks at the finest that the region has to offer.

In Gemma Taylor’s fascinating article on wildlife in the Seychelles she describes how even while staying in the luxury hotel of Constance Lémuria on Praslin, it is possible to engage with the beautiful wildlife of the country.

‘Look past the (admittedly breathtaking) golf course here and you’ll find a Jurassic paradise, with curvaceous pools sculpted Thunderbirds-style into granite.’

Taylor recommends, ‘Come in January and you can coo over turtle hatchlings scampering to the sea. Book yourself villa four or five – fabulously described as ‘the maternity ward’ – at Constance Lémuria and you may even spy some of the leathery tots in your garden.’

She also recommends visiting nearby Cousin island, a 10 minute boat-ride from Praslin, which she describes as ‘an aviary Eden’.

The magazine’s Total Guide to Mauritius describes Constance Le Prince Maurice as a grown-up hotel with some of the friendliest staff on the island. It goes on to say ‘the hotel’s beach is one of the most sheltered on Mauritius’.

Constance Moofushi also gets a recommendation in the magazine’s guide to the Maldives with its luxurious all-inclusive Crystal package. The magazine says, ‘Once you’ve factored in arranging and paying for transfers, it really does make sense to go with an inclusive package.’

1. Challenge yourself to a wild adventure in dramatic locations

Take yourself out of your comfort zone and try diving with sharks in the Maldives at Constance Moofushi, rock climbing in the Seychelles at Constance Ephélia or landing a marlin off the shores of Constance Le Prince Maurice.

2. Take a digital detox

The appeal of a digital detox continues to gather pace. At the Robinson Crusoe style island of Constance Tsarabanjina, you can cast yourself away and escape the buzz of modern technology. Turn off your mobile phone, leave your iPad in your suitcase and don’t even think about checking your emails. This is a place where you can really reconnect with yourself and feel the absolute peace that comes from being offline to the rest of the world.

3. Discover a new passion

Whether you’ve always wanted to learn everything there is to know about wine or you’re interested in the vast world of marine biology, make 2014 the year you start your journey of discovery.

Our expert sommeliers are always happy to talk guests through our wine lists before you take a tour of the extensive cellars at Constance Le Prince Maurice and Constance Halaveli followed by a wine tasting.

And if gastronomy is your passion, you can learn to cook using local ingredients under the expert guidance of our chefs.

4. Enjoy time with those you love

Let this be the year you make time to hang out, talk and laugh with your loved ones. Book a villa big enough for all the family from grandparents to grandchildren like the family villas at Le Prince Maurice, Belle Mare Plage, Halaveli and Ephélia or splash out on the über luxury of one of our Presidential villas.

5. Treat yourself to life’s simple pleasures

Take the time to enjoy the pleasure of trying a new spa treatment, reading a book on a sun lounger, or just exploring a beautiful spot while letting your thoughts meander. You can take a break from it all at one of our Spas de Constance where our therapists can create a personalised plan for you while on holiday.

Growing trend for luxury exotic minimoons

The minimoon has come of age. What used to be a credit crunching short break after a wedding has become the latest trend in short luxury getaways.

Minimoons at Constance Ephélia

The new minimoons aren’t for those who can’t afford the cash but rather for those who can’t afford the time but still want all the luxury and glamour of an exotic 5* break after the frenetic activity of a wedding.

These short breaks often include a range of couples’ activities which make the minimoon special and memorable such as secluded beach dinners served by candlelight, sensual couples’ massages and romantic sunset cruises.

The idea of fitting all the romance and excitement of a honeymoon into a short luxury minimoon is a response to the fact that many couples now choose to take time off before the wedding and so can’t justify the traditional two weeks honeymoon after.

The minimoon is not, however, the end of the story. Among the cash rich, time poor newlyweds it is a short celebration of the marriage with all the sparkle of a traditional honeymoon which is then followed by a more extensive prolonged honeymoon at a later date.

  • Spending the day on your own deserted Maldives island with a delicious picnic lunch prepared by a world-class chef at Constance Halaveli
  • An afternoon massage with your new spouse on a secluded beach in Mauritius followed by champagne and macaroons at Constance Le Prince Maurice
