At Constance Hotels we are carrying out a multi-million pound revamp to add a splash of luxury to the Crusoe-chic that is Constance Tsarabanjina.

With The Sunday Times listing Tsarabanjina in its 100 greatest holidays on the planet, this is the year to discover for yourself what makes the resort so stunning.

Luxury all-inclusive package

When we re-open Tsarabanjina in March, guests will be able to enjoy all the treats the resort has to offer under one luxury package. So from the moment you arrive, you can relax knowing that all your needs will be catered for.

Laid-back elegance

Careful to maintain the barefoot charm and eco-friendliness that guests have always loved about Tsarabanjina, we have revamped our beautiful beach huts with the added luxury of air conditioning.

Embracing Malagasy culture we’ve updated the interiors using natural materials, and local art and sculpture based on marine life to add a boutique feel to the beachfront accommodation.

Guest can chill out in relaxed luxury on the bungalow’s enlarged terrace complete with elegantly comfortable furniture for hanging out with loved-ones or friends.

Laid back beach vibe

Lie back and enjoy this indulgent beach experience with our new massage rooms complete with ocean views, and an outdoor shower carved into the island rock for a genuine outdoor experience.

In the main building we’re also remodelling the reception and restaurant blending the Malagasy culture and art with a dash of Constance luxury.

How do I get there?

To top it all off we’ve made the inaccessible more accessible – the new helipad means you can choose to transfer from the mainland with minimal effort, or take the boat from Nosy Be.

Meeru – The Barefoot Grill at Constance Halaveli Resort

In the first of our series on the restaurants that make the Constance culinary experience so special, we lift the lid on the beautiful Meeru Barefoot Grill at Constance Halaveli, Maldives.

Meeru beach bbq

Situated right on the beach, Meeru is a casual al fresco BBQ restaurant. With just 10 tables set for 2 people at each, this is an intimate spot where you can kick off your shoes, feel the sand between your toes and dine by tiki torchlight.

Our house specialities

Specialities here are the finest quality cuts of Australian meat and fresh seafood cooked to your liking. Other signature dishes include our special homemade chilli tomato jam and the Meeru salsa. We also serve the best garlic bread in the Indian Ocean, made on a baby baguette with homemade garlic butter and a blend of 3 cheeses.

The menu is displayed on boards, where guests get to tick the items they want to build their own dish.

Weekly specials

Prepared under the masterful eye of Executive Chef Glen Cooper, Meeru weekly specials include:

The Halaveli Tandoor

Built by our engineering department, the Halaveli tandoor oven is the first of its kind in the Indian Ocean. This cooking method preserves the flavour of the ingredients and ensures a perfect texture – crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside.

Charcoal BBQ

Choose from a wide selection of top quality Australian meat including ostrich, lamb, Wagyu beef, Black Angus, venison, corn fed chicken, and for the more adventurous there’s kangaroo and crocodile.

Lobster night

Lobster and fresh whole fish are brought to Halaveli by local fisherman on a traditional Maldivian boat, the dhoni, just 1 hour before dinner service begins. Pick your own lobster and our chef will prepare it to your liking.

Wine list

Our sommelier Cedric Jacob oversees a wine list that reads like a ‘who’s who’ of the wine world. Constance Halaveli houses one of the largest stocked wine collections in the Maldives, which we are continuously expanding to include some of most exclusive and obscure vineyards in the world. On the menu you’ll find our wine collection totalling 18,000 bottles of wine from 920 different varieties, housed in our 2 cellars at the Jahaz and Jing restaurants.

Architecture and design at Constance Moofushi

Moofushi from the air

Continuing our series on the architectural and design inspiration behind our luxury resorts, here’s an insight into the creativity that went into developing the thrillingly beautiful Constance Moofushi.

A pearl in the middle of the Maldives archipelago, Moofushi is situated on The Jewel Island in the South Ari Atoll.

Opened in November 2010, the island has a unique butterfly design and daring architecture that was developed by Mauritian architect Jean-Michel d’Unienville and French design team Marc Hertrich and Nicolas Adnet of Studio MHNA.

Robinson-Crusoe chic

At Moofushi, the focus is on offering the ultimate in bare-foot sophistication – luxury without being flashy.

On arrival by sea plane or water taxi, you can walk barefoot straight onto the sand. At the reception, the welcome desks are made of beautifully worn wood, and the chandelier of recycled glass bottles.

This restful space gives you a sense of the wonderfully quirky and stylish mood this resort exudes.

Environmental consideration

Environmental issues were key to the design. Careful consideration has been taken to preserve the environment through efficient and non-polluting materials. Think luxury and simplicity – wood, ropes, lamps in the spirit of the marine lanterns, huge trunk-like wardrobes in the villas and many other surprises.

Communal spaces and spa

Manta bar

The team behind Moofushi has created communal spaces where guests can chill out at any time of day. The lounge is a delightful mix of private club meets Ernest Hemingway hang-out – all leather armchairs, bamboo screens and slow-whirring ceiling fans.

Drink in the tropical night air at the bar, or seek out the VIP spot, lounges on the beach, night spots, isolated restaurant tables and the more classical space close to incredible buffets.

The spa is built above the water to provide a fantastically relaxing space, and each treatment room faces the turquoise sea.

Land and water villas

Relaxed luxury at Moofushi

Getting a good night’s sleep is essential on holiday. At Moofushi there are 110 land and water villas to choose from, all set in an intimate location of lagoons, sandbanks and woodlands.

If you choose our stilted accommodation over the water, you’ll get privileged access to the sea and much longed for privacy – especially for those of you on honeymoon.
