Laid back vibe at Totem Bar

For two years we have been welcoming guests to their own luxury island in the Maldives where barefoot chic meets Constance sophistication, creating a unique vibe all of its own.

In that time you seem to have liked what we’ve done – awarding us two Trip Advisor Certificates of Excellence and the 2012 Travellers Choice Award for Top 25 Hotels in Asia.

And even though you’re happy with us, we continue to work to make your experience at Moofushi even better. In May this year we welcomed our new General Manager, Jean François Debon, who is passionate about ensuring guests have the ultimate luxury holiday experience.

Highlights of Moofushi

Here’s a run down of what we’ve introduced in the last two years:

  • Moonlight dinners – a chance to treat yourself and your loved one to a romantic four course meal with champagne served on a candle-lit beach by your own private butler.

  • Sandbank moments – a chance to share a table for two on a sandbank of your own for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
  • Cinefushi – lie back on a star-lit beach and watch a movie while we serve you popcorn, canapés, ice cream and cocktails.
  • Sunrise & sunset yoga – stretch and relax in the warmth of the rising or setting sun with our beach yoga sessions.
  • Special Maldivian bed decoration – as part of our turndown service

Thanks to our hugely popular all inclusive Cristal package you’ve been able to come here relaxed in the knowledge that we will look after your every need.

Diving at Moofushi

Diving has been one of our most popular activities since we opened, hardly surprising thanks to our stunning location on the South Ari Atoll, one of the best dive spots in the Maldives.

To make the diving experience even better we have invited a resident marine biologist for guests who want to learn more about what they see.

Diving scooter course

With their help we run a PADI shark speciality course and from December to April, there’s snorkelling with manta rays.

For die-hard diving fans and adrenalin junkies, we’ve introduced the exciting diving scooter course climaxing with a scooter dive in Moofushi’s shark pass or one of our shark points.

Weddings and honeymoons

Over the last two years Moofushi has become a popular venue for destination weddings, and our personal wedding planner has helped make many couples’ dreams of a luxury Indian Ocean wedding come true.

Fans of Moofushi

We may have only been here for two years but some of our guests have loved their time with us so much they have returned again and again.

Indian Ocean jewel

Imagine an island as untouched as the one Robinson Crusoe discovered. Mix that with barefoot chic and world-class facilities and you have Constance Moofushi Resort.

Myrthe Strijbos from The Style Junkies writes about discovering the Jewel Island.

As a frequent traveller I love unspoiled places where you get a taste of seclusion and sheer beauty.

The Maldives were always number one on my must-go travel list. This gorgeous country is, by most estimations, the closest you get to paradise on earth and the ideal choice for lovebirds.

In March my boyfriend and I visited the Indian Ocean jewel and discovered it for ourselves. I can easily say that for experiencing that feeling of going back to nature, indulging in sun drenched days and star studded nights, the Maldives is where it’s at.

The journey by seaplane to this barefoot idyll is a pleasure for the eye – breathtaking views of the azure blue sea, sandy little islands surrounded by turquoise reefs and glorious skies.

For a dive junkie, this laid-back yet luxurious resort is a paradise, and considered one of the best dive spots in the South Ari Atoll. And you can see why when you catch your first glimpse of the spectacular soft coral reefs and the giant mantas gliding by.

As you would expect, the accommodation is as spectacular as the location. A quarter of the 110 thatched villas are on the beach, while the water villas and senior water villas are on two jetties, each with a stairway down to the azure lagoon and a private deck.

At Moofushi they capture the best tropical ambiance, the beauty of the location, and the exotic flavours of the Maldives.

And they’ve rewritten the rule book on all-inclusives. Opt for the Crystal Package and you get all meals at Manta Restaurant, drinks (yes, as much cocktails and wine as you want!), mini bar, and more.

What else is there to do…

Reach the perfect state of well being and deep relaxation at Le Spa Constance, and for yoga try a lesson from yogi Manish. Check out the water sport centre for surfing, kayaking or sailing. Meanwhile, back on dry land you can siesta on hammocks, chill by the pool or just soak up the sun… Atoll life is good.

Top 10 highlights of Madagascar

The varied landscape and unique wildlife are undoubtedly the highlights of the vast and remote island of Madagascar.

Local Mitsio fishermen in Madagascar

Here you’ll find 32 different types of lemurs, all endemic to Madagascar and 250 bird species - 106 of which are only found on the island.

We’ve put together our must-see list of the island for a truly epic experience, with links to more useful information.

And, we want to know what you think – do you have an all-time favourite place in Madagascar that should have made it onto our list? Or photos you want to share? You can get in contact with us via Twitter, Facebook or the comments section below.

North Madagascar

1. Ankarana National Park

This national park is formed of a limestone massif with caves and canyons that have become home to many lemur and bird species.

2. Montagne d’Ambre National Park

This stunning landscape combines rainforest, volcanic massif and waterfalls. The park gets its name from the amber-coloured resin that drips from the trees here. You’ll find the crowned lemur, aye-aye, dwarf and rufous mouse lemurs. The reserve is also home to at least 11 species of chameleon including the tiny Brookesia minima.

3. Antsiranana

Gateway to both Montagne d’Ambre and Ankarana National Parks, Antsiranana is a brightly coloured port that retains a sense of its colonial past, with crumbling architecture and a deep water harbour.

4. Constance Tsarabanjina

Constance Tsarabanjina is situated in the Nosy Bé archipelago off the North-West coast. With unspoilt beaches and superb diving, Tsarabanjina offers a total get-away experience where barefoot luxury is the order of the day.  Hunker down or use it as a base for your Madagascan adventure.

East Madagascar

5. Ile Sainte Marie

This small tropical island sits off the east coast of Madagascar. The channel between the island and Madagascar is a great spot for whale watching as large groups of humpback whales come here to breed between July and October. Diving is also superb. Protected from sharks, the waters off Ile Sainte Marie are brimming with colourful corals and fish. Orchid lovers should head here in September, when the flowers are at their peak.

South West Madagascar

6. The Spiny Desert

Thorny trees make navigating this area very difficult for animals, and the wildlife here has had to adapt to survive in this hostile landscape. Visit the spiny desert and you’ll find the ring-tailed lemur, sifaka, Madagascar radiated tortoise and Grandidier’s mongoose.

7. Avenue of the Baobabs

Some of the tallest baobab trees are found along the avenue of trees near Morondava, a small beach town in the south west of Madagascar. Six of the world’s 8 baobab species are endemic to the island, and they can grow up to 30-40 metres.

8. Kirindy Reserve

This reserve is just north of Morondava. Madagascar’s dry tropical deciduous forest is under threat and this 10,000 hectare reserve offers a rare opportunity to immerse yourself in the landscape. Here you’ll find several species of lemur including the pygmy mouse and nocturnal lemurs, as well as reptiles and amphibians.

9. Ifaty

This popular, laid back beach resort is renowned for its long beaches, surfing and whale spotting sites. If you’re up for an adrenalin shot, there’s also the opportunity to dive with sharks.

Central Highlands

10. Antananarivo

The lively Malagasy capital is surrounded by hills and rice paddy fields. You can enjoy some buzzing local city life, and visit museums, botanical gardens, markets, churches and restaurants.
