Mixing Business With Pleasure

Reading Time: 5 minutes

The chances are that at some point in your life, someone will have advised you against ‘mixing business with pleasure’. Well, get ready to throw all that out of the window as we introduce you to one of the hottest travel trends: ‘bleisure’.

Business never looked so good at Constance Hotels

Gone are the days where business trips meant all work and no play. Business travel presents the perfect opportunity to learn another way of doing things; soaking up new cultures, working remotely, and most importantly, tacking a few leisure days onto your stay.

With your flights, accommodation and expenses paid for, it’s not hard to see why the idea of a two-in-one trip holds so much appeal, particularly for people who are short on time or money.

“Bleisure represents a compromise for the dedicated businessman or woman; it offers a symbiosis through which employees can balance professional obligations with much needed R&R.” – Forbes

It’s not only employees who are seeing the benefits of bleisure. Employers are also acknowledging the rewards that come with promoting a healthy work-life balance. A recent survey by the Bridgestreet Global Hospitality research firm has shown that 78% of employees recorded finding professional assignments more rewarding when a few personal days were added on to the business trip.

…especially the 9 to 5!

It’s clear that the idea of bleisure is becoming increasingly valued in the workplace, but what can the travel trend do for you? Here are just some of the ways you can make the most of the hybrid holiday, at Constance Hotels and Resorts…

  1. Reward yourself with bonus air miles

Travelling for work can be taxing, but consider where you can reclaim some reward. With Turkish Airlines and Singapore Airlines’ loyalty programmes, each dollar spent at Constance Hotels and Resorts earns you a mile or two! (Look out for a special offer, you can even earn up to triple miles per one USD spent!)

Say you were to book yourself in for a much-needed massage after a long conference… you could be earning air miles whilst indulging! That’s definitely an incentive to work some leisure into that business trip if ever there was one.

  1. Learn about new cultures – in and out of the office

The bleisure trend is proving popular for the opportunity it provides for people to gain new experiences, and learn about the culture of the countries where their business trips find them.

A survey from Booking.com shows that “49% of business travelers already extend their business trips to further enjoy the destination”, whilst The Bleisure Report takes this a step further, saying that almost all of the business travellers spoken to believed bleisure to have “helped them gain cultural experience and knowledge of the cities they were doing business in.”

To put it simply, not only are bleisure holidays personally enriching, but they’re professionally enriching as well. If ever you needed to prove to your boss that such a holiday was in order, this could be a pretty good place to start!

While business travel might be an essential part of your career, being away from loved ones is sure to take its toll. But what if you could combine the two, bringing those you love with you?

According to Orbitz, 43% of American business travellers “had a significant other accompany them on a business trip” and it’s no wonder why – a bleisure trip is a perfect opportunity to relish the company of your loved ones, at little extra cost.

The greatest benefit to bleisure is also the most obvious: being able to get the best of both worlds, in the same trip. The more seamless the transition the better, and this is where it’s all about location, location, and location.
