With more comfortable aircraft and flights connecting more parts of the world than ever, it’s no wonder that more people are traveling further afield. For example, trans-Atlantic air travel has increased by 50% over the past 15 years, and the longest commercial flight in the world is now over 17 hours long!

Who knows, you might even enjoy your long-haul flight! After all, it’s the destination that counts, not the distance…

So is travelling to far-flung destinations worth the effort? There’s no doubt about it! Here are some tips to make the most of your long-haul journey:

  1. Take plenty of entertainment

You’re sure to find lots of on-board entertainment provided, but why not take your laptop or tablet to catch up on that television series you missed? Don’t forget the noise-cancelling headphones!

Or maybe it’s a good opportunity to finish that novel that’s been sitting on your bedside table for months?

  1. Pack a change of clothes

The trick to getting comfortable on a long-haul flight is to pack some comfortable clothes to change into (including some warm socks) – this will help you relax and fall asleep more easily if you want to take the opportunity to catch up on some zzz’s!

Change back into your other clothes before landing and you’ll feel refreshed and ready to go.

  1. Bring a survival kit

An inflatable pillow and an eye mask are a must! It’s also a great idea to take a toothbrush, toothpaste and some other toiletries so you can freshen up before arrival.

  1. Stretch your legs

When you’re not eating, sleeping or watching movies, take a stroll around the cabin to stretch your legs and get your blood flowing.

  1. Jet lag massage

Indulge in a jet lag massage when you arrive at your hotel. This blissful 30-minute treatment (or longer, if you fancy it!) is guaranteed to get you in the holiday mood and get your long-haul break off to the perfect start.

So now you’re all set to make the most of your long-haul flight, what are you waiting for? Paradise is just a flight away!

How often do you take long-haul flights? Where’s the furthest you’ve been?
