Welshman Mark Mouland, the first player to win back-to-back Mauritius Golf Open titles, has earned himself a regular place on the lucrative USPGA Champions Tour next year.
Mouland has been a regular visitor to Constance Belle Mare Plage for many years and followed his first win in 2002 by successfully defending his title 12 months later.
The 51-year-old former European Tour player – who has often indulged in his passion for big-game fishing while on the island – joined the senior ranks last year and scored his maiden title success, in the Portuguese Senior Open, a few weeks before flying out from England for the inaugural MCB Tour Championship.
This year Mouland made a limited number of appearances on the Champions Tour after winning a conditional card at the 2011 National Qualifying Tournament. Vut an outstanding performance in this year’s gruelling event in Florida earned Mouland third place with only the top-five finishers being guaranteed full playing rights for 2013.
Of the other MCB Tour Championship entries this year, Sweden’s Anders Forsbrand gained conditional exemption for next season while Australian Peter Fowler and Englishman Barry Lane finished high enough in the final placings to give themselves opportunities of securing a limited number of appearances.
Then come back on Friday 23 November to watch a Constance Pro play all the options and see if you won. Those who stated correctly which shot gets closest to the flag will be entered into a prize draw with the winner announced on that day.
We’re counting down to the European Senior Tour MCB Championship in December 2012 hosted by Constance Hotels & Resorts in Mauritius. On Monday each week for the next 3 weeks we’ll present you with a fun golf challenge.
