I have never been back to the same hotel in my years of travelling this fantastic globe, and wondered if I had made a mistake in choosing to return to Le Prince Maurice. I need not have worried. The hotel was even more luxurious after its refurbishment, and the service… well, what can I say.

Greeted by name by every member of staff… the General Manager introduced himself again over dinner, the Spa manager came over at breakfast to ask how my massage had been the previous day, the receptionist greeted me as a long-lost friend and the guest relation’s manager up-graded me and treated me like royalty.

1. Before flying, use compression socks. They may not look sexy but they’re effective and will go unnoticed.

2. When you’re on the plane, avoid crossing your legs as it restricts your circulation.

3. During the flight, get up and move around. Taking just a few steps can help to revive your blood circulation.

4. Rub your ankles and then rotate them, first one way and then the other.

5. Massage your feet with a tennis ball that you roll under each foot – you’ll feel the benefits immediately.

Finally, once you’ve arrived at your hotel, head to the spa. At Le Prince Maurice, you can enjoy a cold shower on your legs, regenerate yourself with a sandalwood and cane sugar scrub, then follow it up with a 45 minute reflexology session. It will leave your legs feeling light and refreshed.

On a recent visit to the resort the magazine describes the Seychelles as an idyllic holiday destination and Ephélia as the perfect place to stay.

‘We stayed at the breathtakingly beautiful 5 star Constance Ephélia Resort on the island of Mahé. Here we enjoyed swimming in our private pool at our private villa where all you can hear are birds singing, the rustling of leaves in the coconut palms and small waves washing onto the North Beach just a few steps away.’

The magazine team was amazed by the number of activities on offer at the resort and tried their hands at everything from rock climbing and zip lining to trail hiking and spa treatments. They even took time out to feed the resort’s 110-year-old tortoise, Dusty.

Other highlights outlined by the magazine were the tantalising, 5 star food served at the resort’s five restaurants and the friendliness of all the hotel staff. ‘The staff are like a family at Constance Ephélia Resort, even though there are 800 of them!’

Paul Wesselingh wins ISPS Championship

English golfer Paul Wesselingh stormed to victory for the second year running at this years’ ISPS Handa PGA Seniors Championship.

Held at Mottram Hall in Cheshire last week, Wesslingh produced a stunning 20 under par total, including a flawless final round, to hold off all challengers and take the ISPS Championship.

The win sees Wesselingh climb to the top of the Senior Tour Order of Merit putting him in a strong position to make it to the MCB Tour Championship held at Constance Belle Mare Plage, Mauritius in December.

Wesselingh was reported as saying, ‘It’s unbelievable, I just can’t believe I’ve done it. Couldn’t believe I’d done it last year and I can’t believe I’ve done it again this year.’

Challenging Wesselingh for the top spot was Paraguay’s Angel Franco coming in second with 16 under par and fellow Englishman Ian Woosnam who came in third.

It wasn’t so long ago that the wedding cake was simply a three-tier, royal iced fruit cake, no negotiation.

Then wedding cakes underwent a bit of a transformation, the use of sponges instead of fruit, fondant icing instead of royal became accepted. Cakes got bigger, bolder, even wonkier.

Now many brides are going even further and opting not just for a cake as their reception centre piece but wedding dessert tables adorned with all manner of sugary naughtiness for their celebrations.

They are set to be a big trend for 2013, perhaps even rivaling cupcakes in their growing popularity amongst savvy, fashion-conscious brides.

As with many trends dessert tables started in the States and spread around the world. The idea that you could have a table laid out with a plethora of cookies, macaroons, miniature cakes, cake pops, sweets and popcorn is wonderfully decadent.

On other occasions it might seem a tad too opulent but at weddings they are a brilliant accompaniment to the main cake and a great way to offer guests something visually pleasing as well as alternative to nibble on.

They can also be themed to fit in with wedding itself with everything from chic Parisian black, white and pink tables to rustic, country-style ones with cascades of delicately iced cookies in shades of coffee, cream and ivory.

For the serious cake lovers out there it is also an opportunity to have a second boutique style cake which mirrors the wedding theme.

Normally two tiers, these cakes are much smaller in scale than the main wedding cake but provide the perfect focal point for the dessert table itself and offer the bride and groom another chance to ‘cut the cake’.

From a practical point of view, they can provide extra cake for evening guests or those who just want an extra slice.

The only difficulty is in choosing exactly what is to go on the table, the list of possibilities is deliciously long….
